Is a 9 inch port too big for 8 cu ft. box?

Like the title states. I did torres and re audio box calculator and they both give me roughly a 9 inch opening for an 8 cu ft. box to get a tuning around 35 hz. It seems a little big so before I start cutting and building I want to ask those in the know.

Without the measurements it would be hard to help you. All I know is I have a dual 12 box with shared chambers that is 4 cu.ft. with a 4 inch opening. I think it's tuned around 35 hz.
