the subs have 3'' coils correct?
if you build the enclosure correctly and have minimal impedence rise and everything is setup right....

then there is not a 3'' coil on the market that can take the heat of 1500 watts for an extended amount of time without heating up/smelling/failing
somehow that just doesnt sound right.

i've had 12's that i gave over 1500rms for an extended time period and never had 1 issue... im sure audioque 18's are built a lot better than my old audiobahn 12's....

You need to take into consideration how much of the 1500 watts will actualy be usable. Figure in box rise and it is more like 900-1000.
I would opt for a pair 2200's.
well i figured about 1300-1500 with box rise b/c id run the 1500.1 at .5ohm

2 3000's or 2 AQ2200's will be more than enough i think

I'm telling you from an engineer point of view....

1500 watts is alot of heat...either your old installs had an impedence rise that was through the roof...you had low voltage or some other problem.

With everything setup properly there aren't many subs available today that can take over 1500 for an extended period of time full tilt without stinking and starting to fail

naw i had a rockford 4000 on 2 12's. birthsheet that came with the amp was over 5300rms at 14.4... never had a voltage issue.. voltage never dropped under 13.5. imp rise i think the installers told me everything was about 1.4ohm

they took it and was loud as sh!t...

i miss that amp... to bad i was in a car accident and that amp got fuc*ed

what do you call extended period?

i had the system for over 2 years and drove from atlanta to chicago bumpin for quite some time.. nothing...

the 1st week i smelled glue but that was it.. after the subs broke in... jeezy and many other bass heavy songs were just fine..
