ok i have two dual 4 ohm subs at 450 rms each I was looking at the soundstream rubicon 1000d.I was just wondering if I wire them down to 1ohm will the amp be overkill for the subs or will it be just perfect?for both subs its 900 rms. I curretly have a kicker zx400.1 amp wired down to 1-ohm but it keeps cutting off. and I have my gains set to 20v ac, so im pretty sure its that the amp is underpowerd.Thanks.

I was planning on setting the gains fairly low.I read somewhere on here that its good to have an amp a little stronger than your subs. With the gains set at the right level.I might be wrong.

NO, do not exceed RMS ratings, they're there for a reason, so you don't blow your subs... the same goes for underpowering, don't go any lower than the RMS wattage either
ok not trying to be a **** here but im going to :p

i can put 2k to a 1k sub all day in the proper box and good control of settings.

and on underpowering. what happens when you turn your volume down? as long as the signal is not clipped its fine
