Hey gang,

Yesterday i heard this really wierd noise like rattling metal coming out of my sub at high volume and when the lows hit:crap: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Is this the end for my sub ???//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

still plays though and you can not hear it from inside the car. you can only hear it when you open the trunk and stand in front of the sub....

if its a metallic "slinky" sound from your sub, then yes...it's on its way to a better place...unfortunately..
I ran my L7's at 1 ohm daily .

So you think is damaged ??? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

How come you can not hear it from inside the car ??

i had mine at 1 ohm as well. i just overcranked the volume and they cut out. i knew i was pushin em too hard. i was freakin out. i got to my friends house and opened my trunk and saw smoke comin outta the ports. got to the gas station and checked it out, and it had a slinky sound. but i guess you can't hear it cuz the other one is drowning it out.

Mine never cut out though and my amp never clipped or nothing and i have the gains set up properly. There's a shit load of air coming out from around the sub:eyebrow:

If it is damaged.... how much longer until it stops playing ???//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Sounds like the coils are seperating in clumps, rather than unwinding. Thats a symptom of overheating (ie: capton coating on the wire has baked together, then seperated from the other coils in lumps)

so, your fuxored.

Can that sub be fixed ???//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

kicker doesn't recone anymore. unless you can do it yourself or find someone to do it, you're ****ed.
Hey guys,

I just went to a local shop so they could hear it and they said there's nothing wrong with it....

They said that the weird noise was coming out from all the air coming out from around the sub because the box is sealed....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Is he full of shit or what ???

Do sealed boxes sound clean when you stand in front of them ??? or they have some distortion ????

Like I said inside the car you can not hear NO distortion at all, you hear it when you open the trunk and stand in front of the box.... is this normal ?????
