Is 1/0 & 4ga ok

I just purchased both the P1000.1 & the P900.4 made by Precision Powerand i'm about to order the wire. I would like to know if it'll be ok running 1/0 from the battery into the distro blk with 4ga going to each amp. 2nd, the instructions say use 8ga for power & grd; will 4ga fit into the terminals? 3rd, the total of fuses for both amps is 195A (40x3 & 40,35) so would I use a 200A fuse in the main line coming from battery? Distro blk wil also be fused accordingly. And last question; is it better to run the groung to the battery or to the body? Thanks in advance for all answers.

You could trim the 4g to fit in the 8g terminal.

You fuse the 1/0 run to the amperage its rated for. True ofc 1/0 can handle 300A. Not sure about CCA, think about 65% of that

As for the ground it depends on your vehicle.

Yes fuse what the wire is rated for and grounding back to the front battery is the best but you would be fine finding a good ground in the back as well. I would advise you to do the big 3 also if you have not already

So if I go by what SMS is saying I should usa a 300A for the 1/0 wire & 125A for the 2 4awg wires and not what the fuses on the amps are.
Most folks you ask say "fuse to wire size", but that's info is flat out wrong in some cases! Max fuse size is just that, it's the largest fuse you should use with a given wire, to protect the wire.

By that logic if you used 4/o ga wire, your fuse could be larger than the batteries ability to even blow the fuse, and that could result in a damaged Battery and worse. There is Zero benefit in using a fuse twice the rated power of the end use equipment. Fuses are for safety to protect your entire electrical system not just the wire (when using oversize wires). The larger the fuse the lower the over all protection.

A 200 Amp fuse is more than enough. I run 3 PPI amps in one of may vans and it has a 120 amp fuse feeding the Distribution block. When i test it by trying to blow the fuse using max music volume, it will only blow a 60 amp fuse.

I would love to hear someone make case for using a 300 amp fuse were a 150 amp fuse would work.

I concur.

And grounding to chassis vs battery is probably about a wash electrically, but going back to the battery would be a hassle and cost more for wire.
