R.I.P. Gossamer!!
Dateline Eunice, Louisiana:
'Due to continued complaints of residents playing their car audio systems at extreme volumes in residential neighborhoods all hours of the night, constant noise being a source of nuisance at traffic lights and close to schools and hospitals the Eunice police chief states that a proposal will be brought before the city council at an emergency session gathered just for consideration of said proposal to crack down on these noisy violators.
"I'm tired of all these calls coming into my office at all hours of the night when decent folk are trying to sleep because they have to go to work the next morning. These offenders will have to be taught a lesson and one severe enough that it will actually make an impact."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The proposed consequence for a noise ordinance violation according to the news story I heard on the radio yesterday is going to be a fine of $500, mandatory 48 hours in lockup, and automatic suspension of your driver's license for 90 days. I do not know whether or not this will pass in the absolute burg that is Eunice, Louisiana, but my point in posting this is:
If people with systems in their vehicles would have a little respect for those around them we wouldn't have to deal with people like Richard Clark and all the proposed legislation around the country cracking down on those of us that enjoy aftermarket car audio.
I have no doubts that most of those who are regular participants here in our little corner of the car audio universe actually do bump responsibly. For those of you that do? Please accept my most gracious and sincere Thanks.
Those of you who are on the flipside of this coin, however, and are part of the problem rather than part of the cure I fervently hope someone comes and jacks every item of audio gear out of your ride and the engine throws a rod next time you crank the car/truck/whatever you drive.
Is it so freggin hard to twist the volume knob counterclockwise when entering a residential area? Is it so out of line to expect you to have some manners when in close proximity to a nursing home, hospital, school, public library, etc etc etc (other areas where quiet would be both appreciated and expected) ???
Those that have no respect for the ability (and reasonable expectations) of others to be able to go about their day-to-day life without being assaulted by your stereo make it increasingly difficult for those of us that understand rolling through neighborhood streets or sitting in rush hour traffic probably isn't the wisest place to have the volume cranked wide open to be able to enjoy our audio without being harassed by the local constabulary just for driving something that has the appearance of something that might have other-than-OEM audio installed within. [/run-on sentence]
Those this applies to know who you are. If you are one of those that I am addressing, thanks for nothing you POS. A pox on your family and all of its progeny 'til the end of time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif
