iPOD's giving me the iWANNASHOOTMYSELF

i'm pretty sure something is messed up with the HU settings. When i hook it up using the line out (dock), i get music, but i cant change the volume (really loud), and im not getting much, if any, mids or lows. The AUX is on. iPOD is on. I can change songs, but thats it. AHHHHHHH!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif :furious: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

then your headunit or your ipod is screwed up.

does your ipod work fine with just headphones? can you hook up that ainet cable to a portable CD player\walkman and have it work fine?

do some testing man.

ive used this method twice [as said] and its never failed me yet.

With all due respect; you get what you pay for. If you had simply purchased the kca-420i, you would be done and happy by now with all the features you want.

ipod dock = $40-50. Cables: $20-30.

that almost encroaches on the $100 price of the unit itself. Just buy it. I swear to everything you'll be happy. It's exactly what you want. Trust me.

this is what i did. I tested the iPOD's line out by pluging it into my home stereo, IT WORKS. I then tested the iPOD's head phone jack, IT WORKS. I plugged the iPOD AND A PORTABLE CD PLAYER into my HU via the head phone jacks, they workand the volume can be controlled by the iPOD (what its supposed to do), but only on my front speakersplay, the subs arent playing at all. I then tested the subs by playing a regular cd in the HU and they work. I then pluged the iPOD into the HU via the line out, and what i get is something crazy. The vlume is really loud and can't be controlled by eather the iPOD or the HU, and again, the subs don't work. I guess i have a faulty HU, cause the iPOD works perfectly.

I'm pretty sure the HU is messing up from sending the signal from the Ai-net port to the amps, weather the iPOD is pluged in via the line out or the phone jack. Gotta love ALPINE!

thats whjat i'm going to do. Alpine is closed until tomorrow, so i'll call sometime. I kinda hope my HU is bad cause i've been waiting for reason to get another one.

I called Alpine this morning and he pretty much told me the manuel was wrong. In the manuel, it says that if you connect A DIVICE to the Ai-net connector, you need to flip the Ai-net swith on the bottom. What the guy told me was that if you plan on using a divice (iPOD) off the AUX setting, you dont need to flip it, and to leave it set on "normal". I did that, reset the HU, and everything works perfectly now. I even tested out the iPOD's sound quality by playing a song from the iPOD and the same song from a burnt CD, and i'll have to say, the iPOD sounds noticeably better.

I appreciate all the help guys, and hope this helps somebody else!
