Been seeing alot of commercials of it and been doing alittle research.. i think browsing you tube and the internet and checking mail with wifi would come in handy... plus storing a couple albums... but ive been hearing about the apps you can download... are the apps free or you have to pay for them like you would games or stuff on your regular phone how does that work.. and does anyone have a ipod touch here?

after seeing what my iphone could do, my dad went out and bought an itouch for the "remote" app. he has gotten hooked on other apps since then, and uses his i touch to check his email and the weather all the time.

go into the itunes app store, you can see what is free and what you have to pay money for. I have paid for very few apps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

"remote app"? what's that. i want one too, i would just rather spend my $ on caraudio...
the remote app lets you control your itunes remotely through your iphone/itouch through your wifi set up.

My dad uses it to control his music, which he streams from his laptop using his itouch. It gives him remote access to his whole library, and shows him what is playing and what is available.

In other words, his $300 Itouch does what a $1000 universal remote cannot do...

Indeed, it can also run SqueezeServer on a PC, doing what the Squeezebox does only with a better screen and the ability to play stuff itself.

I'm really tempted to get one just to be a remote head for the music server.

My dad bought his ONLY for this reason. He has an airport and streams to that using itunes, and now he has complete access to his library and complete control using that app. it is pretty bad ***. he can even control the volume using it. I got him hooked on it, the only downfall is that whenever he has a problem or wants to expand, he calls me for more help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

But I also want an airport now, actually multiple of them, for this reason. I want to be able to use my iphone for complete home control. and I can see apple heading in this direction, if they embrace the wifi control aspect.

If your gonna do a ipod touch and have AT&T you might as well go with the iphone

I dont know if the touch has google maps but you basically get google maps that is close to turn by turn GPS

but if you have a phone you like allready then get the touch

most apps are 1-5 dollars with most being $1.99 the highest ive seen was about $50

i do most of my posting now from an ipod touch. good stuff. the only thing that gets me some times is it does not like threads with a lot of pics. so if i wanna look at build logs, it sometimes kicks me off the web and i have to start over. of couse, i'm veiwing 30 posts per page too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
