ipod newb and head unit ?

ive seen some people hook there ipods to there system and play the songs thru there head units..my question is this,when you look for a song do you use the head unit or do you use the ipod and then control the volume with the head unit?also hows the quality of songs being played thru the ipod to the head unit over just poping cd's in the cd changer?also if you have videos on ipod can you play those if you have a flip down tv?

Mine (cd7000) controls everything from the head unit.

I believe all of the actual ipod adaptors do it this way.

The quality depends on the bitrate of the mp3 and the encoding source.

It will not be as good as an actual CD...although mine still sounds great (IMO) and I rarely ever use an actual CD.
