i have an alpine-9827 headunit. i bought the interface for the ipod. i dont really like it. the only thinki like is that it chargers. the think i hate is that if u wanna find a song i would have to scrol though the headunit and that took forever. if any body has another way of hooking this up to scrol though the ipod instead of the headunit would be great.

If you want to hook up you ipod to your car stereo, I recommend that you don't go through the earphone jack. It really sounds like crap. They make a converter that uses the dock on the bottom and provides an unamplified signal. It might be costly but it really worth it. You get the SQ as if you were using the adaptor but you have to use you ipod to change songs (which I prefer anyway)

How about organizing your iPod?
A lot of people complain about the Alpine interface...I had no problems- I keep my iPod assorted very well.
that has a lot to do with many people not liking the interface. i jsut think its too much of a hassle to go through. i like just being able to use my ipod. i dont even use my deck. just the ipod and use the volume on my EQ.

x2...i organize my ipod by albums...although i do think it does take a long time to go scroll through to find the album you want...but i always wanted the ipod adapter so i still like it...i just hope alpine comes out with an update or something that makes it faster to scroll through

I actually switched from the monster cable to the KCA-420I because the ipod would fly around every where and it was even more of a distraction to be changing it. The only thing with the deck is that it takes some time when scrolling but if u know all the commands its easy.

so that monster cable just goods into the RCA input? if so how is the SQ with a sound system. also isnt there a way to charge it too? i am still a little confused is there a write up on this.

thanks

there is a AUX adapter that turns the Ai net into 2 rcas, then the monster cable goes from the rcas to the headphone adapter. But u need a car charger in order to charge it.
just keep it charged at home. 4-8 hours is the average battery life depending on what is turned on/off. that is plenty for everyday. that is the adapter i was talking about earlier by the way.

the KCA-420i is pretty cool tho. The only complaints I have of it is the scrolling. U can use the volume knob to scroll as fast as u want but it wont go through the artist/album names extremly slow. Also when playing an album, it will be stuck in that ONE album and it wont continue to the next when its done.
