Ipod adapters

You can still charge using the cig lighter or get a DC to AC converter, you don't need much power for it. And with the converter you can replace the wires that plug into the cig lighter with wires that will go to your power and ground wire.

With the cig lighter charger for the iPod, I found it to create a little bit of unwanted noise or distortion, however, it wasn't too bad. I plugged it in only when it needed charging.

^ control would be a ***** and a half with that shit, but that does remind me

i had a zune interface it was pretty nifty, used a zune home kit mounted the dock hardwired the power (12V) and ran the aux out, mine was hidden away and had a ir repeater for remote control

depending where you put it, you can put it in sight and then have the remote to control it

its been done using that same method

Already had the Alpine IDA series...it was ok. Trust me, Ive been around the block with ipod adapters and HU's. I just wanted some input from others who have been through the same.

I know they make adapters for Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, etc that have the iPod dock at one end and just connect to aux input port on the headunit like your connection now but alos have an ACC and GND wire to charge the ipod. Again, no control but charging and audio out of the bottom dock.

I couldn't find one for eclipse but I have seen it...here is a link to the JVC/Alpine one:

That is what I used on my 880PRS till I got a direct connect deck, which is nice plus charges my iPod.
If you get this cable, it will not charge your iPod. Which is no biggie, just make sure it is charged before you head out. I just hated controling my iPod by itself. Too much of a distraction, especially since my car is a 5-speed.
i tapped a dudes car last weekend at a red light, messing wit my ipod. he got out like he wanted trouble, but i guess he got cold feet cuz he said "its ok" and got back in his car:p:
