so there's no way to change mine? I use at&t dsl.. the ipconfig and release dont change it when im plugged directly to the modem. Is there any way to change it when i am changing the router settings? (the page where you set the password and security and stuff)

no you cant change it there.

Set your network adapter to pick up DHCP. Unless your ISP assigned you a specific IP DHCP should work just fine.

hmm everytime i reset my modem that way it changes...

are you sure it didnt change? maybe you are looking at your local IP where its like 192.168.0.xx or 172.16.0.xx instead your physical IP..

type 192.168.0.1 in your browser, it should take you to your modem settings. Can you take a screenshot for us there?

DSL you can either go into your router settings and reset or just unplug it for 15 seconds.

Cable, you will need to call your cable company, but they will charge you.
