investing some money...

what would be a good stock investment for around 400 bucks, that is sure to gain money over say 2,3,6 months???
i want to invest a small amount into a company thats sure to gain some cash in a short time.
a 3 month t-bill will make you some money. As for a company...if I knew it would gain some cash, I would borrow every nickle, dime I could and put it into the stock. You either need to expand your time horizon, demands, or something. Investing isn't that simple. How much do you expect it to make?

Do yourself a favor and do not ask that question on here.

Do some research. Look on forbes lists, top performers over the past years, stock trading sites, etc. There is a wealth of information out there, and you've got to get a grasp on it prior to investing.

One thing to look at is new businesses, or busineses with new products coming out, or those accquring a new "sector."

One thing to look at for a little bit more long termish is microsoft. They've settled most of their lawsuits that I'm aware of, and have windows Vista launching this fall. They've also got the next batch of xbox 360's coming out, and the second wave of games. Those things should push profits up this year and cause the stock to increase. Now...I'm not a market analyst by any means, but it makes sense to me.

EDIT: If you're looking to make 50% or 100% profit in a few months, your only choices are penny stocks. Any thought out investment will make you 6-9% yearly on average. Penny stocks have the ability to double your money over-night, or lose it just as quickly.

If anyone knew that they would be rich.

DONT invest in the short run! Put your money into a mutual fund or simply the dow/nasdaq and forget about it for 30 years!

lol i dont FORGET money. haha, its not me. i remember people who owe me money from like 3 years ago.
well if you want to look at "investing" as simply a few months of gambling, go ahead and do a little bit of research and toss it all into a potential up and comer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

In all reality though, you're going to have to take a huge gamble in penny stocks in order to make a quick buck.

It is much safer to set your money in a dependable stock, or mutual fund and let it sit for years...just add to it when you can.

IIRC, I was reading a money magazine a few months ago, and over the past couple of years citibank has been a great performer. I would say something along those lines would be safe, but there's no true way to tell.

A t-bill is a short term debt instrument issued by the us government. It is sold at a discount, therefore give you interest up front. Come to think of it, $400 is below the minimum investment.

Perhaps gambling would better suit your short time horizon. Investing is a long term process.

Investing in penny stocks is not always a gamble if you know what you are looking for in the financial statements. In some ways, you have an advantage over institutional investors because such companies are less likely to be picked up by screens or covered by anaylsts. Finding those companies takes hours and hours...I spend about 25 hours per week anaylzing stocks and I find one or two good buys per month.

well i just through a number out, i just want a way to throw some money in something a know im going to gain. my buddy said something about a CD account? something like u can put however much in u want, but cant touch it for a certain amount of time? is there such thing? i dont mind putting 20-30 bucks a week in and letting it gain like that, and just not touch that account.
