inverting subs

i was just wondering if you can invert a sub even though your box isnt ported. i have a sealed box and i wanted to see how it would sound if i put the cone facing the inside of the box and the magnet outside. my box however is sealed. can i still do it?

yes you can still do it, if you have one of the newer alpine decks it has an option in the subwoofer controls when you invert the sub, which inverts the signal to the sub. but even if you dont have that control, it will sound the same. i personally have done it many times.

Not completely necessary.

The polarity should be wired to acheive the best results in your vehicle, not according to the positive and negative markings.

Try it with the sub's wired both ways and see which results in the best performance in your specific installation. Relative phase is what's important, not absolute phase.

Yes you can do it. Sometimes alot of the newer amps have a 180 switch on them. Just leave the wiring the same if you have the switch
