Inverting box space question...

I am getting a d9 this week and i have a 1 cu ft sealed fiberglass box for my sub. I plan on either getting my box modified with mdf rings to give me more depth or just inverting it for now until I get more $. I know that inverting a sub makes the box bigger. The recommended box space is between .6-1.2 but I'd like to keep it around .9

How do I go about making the box smaller, anything specific I put in? What is a good amount to put in (of said object) to lower it by .2 ft?

Thanks!

you can use mdf wood to take up the space, you can glue together about 5 pieces of .75" x 10" x 10" board then screw them to the back of the box. that should bring the volume down .22 cu ft.
