Introducing myself

Whats up my name is Mike, I live in Orlando. I drive a 97 Mercury Mountaineer, got a system im not very happy with it was more of a stupid impulse buy, I should have got the RE's I wanted but got ahead of myself.

here are a couple pics of my truck and my system.

I am saving for an 18" RE XXX (06') and a proper amp to power it along with some electrical upgrades, so this will have to do until then.

I think the amp is respectable... but different subs/box would make you much happier. What have you got up front?

Welcome to the forum, guy. I'm with Cris ~ What kind of head unit are you running and what kind of speakers and amplification (if applicable) are you running up front?

I have zero experience with those JBL subs - what about them makes you unhappy??

awesome amp, great looking box, low end subs. if you just swapped out those subs for somthing that can take a bit more power, that would be a great start to be honest. looks like you got a higher end pioneer - one with the big knob - from that second pic. not my favorite headunit, but quality.

first thing, it looks like you need some frontstage with an amplifier. period. first thing to note, you will need an amplifier for your front speakers to even think about keeping up with an 18" sub of any variety (while its loud). unless you jsut like to listen to straight bass. *shrug*

I agree on the subs/box I am running Kicker DX 57's in the doors. no amp on them, with a Alpine CDA-9827

The gauges are going to be relocated within the next couple months to where no one will be able to see them, unless they are in the truck. Mainly because I think the pillar thing looks ricey as well but I need the voltage gauge cause the one in my cluster is fux0red. and the gauges and the gauge pod cost me absolutly nothing.

Mainly the JBL subs just arent loud enough. I went to a local DB Drag and did a 143.5 which is OK for me but just not loud enough. I know a different box would help and I had planned on building a different one over the next month or so.

With the cost of the XXX and a proper amp for it I am looking at sometime next march (using my taxes for what I dont have saved) I am going to do the Alpine Type X components (6.5) and the alpine Type X Midbass (6.5) up front with a proper Alpine Amp. I am probably gonna pick up a cheap 100W or so amp here in the next week or so to put on the Kickers currently in my door.
