Internet speed

Ping is a measurement of how long it takes for a packet to travel from one computer to another computer and back with a response. More or less, overall transport time (ms=milliseconds). 100-200ms pings are ridiculous. You should realistically not be getting anything above 50ms. You speeds for a 3Mb DSL connections are actually about normal. Real world download speeds on 3Mb are usually roughly 300KB/sec and you running about 285 (a little on the slow side but withint margin of error) and your upload speeds are most likely a 768k, which is pretty much what you're getting.

Try this Paul, go to start -> run -> and type in "cmd". Once there, type in "ping www.yahoo.com" and tell me the ping times. I'm on 3Mb down, 3Mb up, and its getting 42ms for me. You shouldn't be above 50ms for those response times. If you are its time to talk to your ISP.

I have vista, do you know how to ascess the run menu? Its not under start

Speeds are finally getting up there again. After about 3 weeks of waiting. I have crap uploads, but on a decent day I get anywhere from 1.5MB-3MB downloads. Uploads have always sucked, but I don't do too much online gaming, so I'm not too worried about them.

Thats great then Paul. Possibly something with the browser then as far as speedtest goes? Like I said, real world speeds you are not too far off from what you should be getting anyways. Or just the speedtest servers don't like you much haha.
