Intermittent Flucuating Alternator Whine

I am having problems with alternator whine. It comes and goes and sometimes is louder than the music and other times very quiet. I recently swapped rca's and that eliminated the problem but now it has come back. i have tried grounding the rca's the the back of the radio. I have also noticed it will more likely start doing it when my eletrical system is loaded regaurdless of rpm. what should i check or do?

Reground your Head unit.

Check all your grounds. even the ones for the battery and alt.

tried regrounding deck, bat to chassis, and bat to block.

didn't make a difference, still it whines and crakles and pops.

what else should i check?

What kinda HU? if its a alpine, make sure u have the choke coil fuse holder inline with the 12v constant yellow wire.

and the intermittent whining and popping comes and goes with bumps and jerks of the car. could it be something inside the radio? or a bad battery? what should i check?

well i would say if it comes and gos with bumps and jerks that you need to make sure that all your grounds are nice and secure it sound like something is loose

what is your voltage when your system whines? it can also be spark plug wires also

Check your RCA connections, if their loose, they sometime make noise.

so i have tried regounding ever thing, remounting my battery, playing with the rca's and it still is intermittent. i was sitting in a gas station last night and it sounded fine and out of nowhere it popped a few times and the started whining, where's the noise coming from?

check the voltage while its acting dumb and make sure the jackets on your spark plug wires are good. just changing things without knowing the whole problem is all hit and miss

so i checked all voltages and they were equal everywhere, checked my plug wires, the were fine and didn't affect the noise. i tried swapping rcas and it seemed to get better, swapped them back to the old ones and they were fine now, so i played with the rca connection at the amp and heard popping. Opened up the amp and one of the rca solder joints on the board was cracked, i soldered back up put it back in and it seems to have been the problem of everything.
