installing new headunit need help

i have a 93 bmw 325i and after i pulled my stock radio out there was one big harness and then a little one with just one big wire coming out of it. i found an amp in the back of my car and i think that the little harness is for the amp. now my question is that how do i wire it into my new cd player. ive seen this same thing on a newer VW so its probably the same as in what you need to do to wire it. need responses asap as im working on this right now.

Did you buy the conversion harness yet? It's going to make your life and install a LOT simpler.

From Metra you need part number 70-8590.

Bestbuy, Circuit City or any local caraudio shop should carry it.
