installing after market deck in Nissan

I have a 95 Nissan Pathfinder that already has an after market JVC CD/radio deck. I was trying to replace it with a newer deck but now I don't get any sound from the speakers. However, when I connect a speaker directly to the unit I hear sound. The guy at Circuit City said that most likely I need a crossover because Nissan has 2 way 5x7 in the doors and the tweeters are seperately mounted in the A frame. My question is did I blow the existing crossover? and where is it? I don't want to have to rewire the entire truck.

I dunno what the guy at jerkit city is telling you about an A frame-I think that's a type of building design...anyways it's not very likely that you blew the crossover just by messing with the wiring...so the speakers you have are aftermarket speakers not stock? if so they (well the tweeters anyways) should have came with a crossovers so you shouldn't need new ones I need a little more info but it sounds like your HU and speakers are good since you can get them to put out sound without running them through the cars wiring. but I suspect that the wiring harness is connected wrong...go and check all your connections on the wiring harness would be my first suggestion. check the balance and fader as well maybe you just have the front or rear hooked up and it is faded to the wrong positon so you don't hear any sound...
