installing a switch for subs

I don't think he has a problem, except maybe the gain being turned up too high. My Alpine still outputs when you turn the sub volume down to 0.

It doesn't sound to me like he was getting noise when the system was turned off, as you would if the power wire were shorted to the remote. It sounds like the sub is still playing, though quieter, when you turn the sub output down to 0.

What he did when he put a switch on the remote wire going to the sub amp will fix the problem he had, which was just a preference problem.

That said, you should be able to turn the sub off from you HU as well. That should have worked for you, but I'm glad you have the problem solved.

no he probably does not have a dedicated rca jack for his subwoofer.

if the amp is hooked up into the front or rear rca jack turning down the sub level or off is not gonna effect it but if you have sub level and stuff like that it seems like you got the amp hooked into the wrong rca jack.

and second of all when you turn the sub off on the hu it does not turn off the amp it turns off the signal.

ur subs are staying on because your power wire is touching your remote wire near the amp. Duct tape or electrical tape each place where the amp has power/grnd/ remote wire/ +/- u dont need a switch. Your Headunit is a switch for that. And if you do a cleaner install you wont have a problem with ur amp stayin on.
the hu DOES NOT TURN OFF THE AMP.

and if the rem and pos was touching don't you think the amp being constantly and over night run down the battery and it not start in the morning ?? my rem and pos touched and keep my amp on all night and my car would not start the next day

It isn't loud or anything buy they are still going.
What I get out of this, is that he had the volume turned up, and turned the sub level down. Like I said, when I have my stereo playing, and I turn my sub level down to zero, it still outputs to the sub, just quietly.

If he turned the sub off in the HU, it would turn the output to the subs off totally, which would solve his problem. I don't think he cares if the amp gets turned off. He's still driving, so the battery isn't going to go dead.

He can go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong, but if he is happy with putting a switch on his remote line, then I'm sure I am right.

Oh shitty. But to tell you the truth, I don't know where to find it in my HU anymore. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't turn them off. LOL. Stupid ALpine with a million features.
