installing a digital volt meter ??

hi guys,

i picked up a digital volt meter for my system but not sure how i should wire it.

what i mean is should i wire it to the battery or alt. or sub amp or ?????

how are you guys wiring up your meters ?

I would wire them to what you want to see. If you want the battery's voltage then go to the battery. I dont think the alt will tell you anything. Personally I go to the amps. It is the last thing in the electrical chain before the subs. Gives me an a voltage reading that is equal to the voltage entering the amp from the battery.

SO if your bi amping, Can you just pull out one of the amps power/ grounds. Run the volt meters power/ground to the amps power/ground and then reattach them to the amp? Would that give you accurate reading for both amps?

In my old truck I did it to the amp to make sure my volts going to my amp didn't drop drastically

I installed a relay for my volt meter, so I didn't have to remember to turn it on/off.

I'd recommend running it to your sub amp's positive and negative inputs.
