so for those of you that actually own one what do you think of it?

I would like to know what size enclosure you are running or did run when you had one and if it was sealed, ported or vented. I'd also like to know what freq it was ported to if it wasn't sealed.

What type of music do you listen to and what type of music in your opinion did not sound as good.

I ask all this because I'm debating on building another box for mine. I wanted a strictly SQ build but after building my sealed enclosure to spec from sound splinter I am a little unsure if i'm getting all I can from this sub. Don't get me wrong it hits hard but I expected more. The bass is very strong and I can feel it through out my body and when really cranked my hair moves lol.

I guess i'm having a hard time of grasping the advantage to this very small sealed enclosure. I have heard MANY sub/enclosure combo's in my time andmost have been large ported enclosures. I really don't hear the SQ over the SPL. maybe its me but I'm starting to think the whole sub SQ thing is just hyped up BS. I'm wondering if I build another box but a large ported enclosure; if the difference in SQ will be any different and I know it will get way louder. I'm up in the air on this one because I'm not sure what I'm missing out on. this sealed box does rock. as of right now its quite loud and I haven't really adjusted everything yet.

hmmm any input?

I have 2 Rl-p 12s in a sealed box that is 1.5 net per driver so 3 cubes total, running off of a Orion 1200D. I mostly listen to rap and country. These things get crazy loud in my single cab. Flexes my glass, and rear wall and rattles everything else. My box is a little of recomended specs though Mike recomended with my power that I run about 1.3 or so sealed, but I opted to sacrafice a little SQ to get a little more output.

on the website the flattest response was with an RL-p 15 in a

Vented

3.5 cu ft net

Tuned to 24 Hz

35 sq. in. of Vent Area
I had my D4 15 in a 3.1 cu ft net tuned to 29 giving it 800 rms at 2ohms from a opti1400d

about 35 sq in of vent area too...

i was extremely happy with the sq and accuracy but i was also yearning for alittle bit more output...basicly what you've just mentioned...

it pounded great, pounded my chest fairly good...but i still wanted alittle bit more...maybe i'm just a bass junkie tho...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

yeah I can't help but think going sealed was a mistake. It just isn't loud enough. IMO its not as clean as I want it either and I think its because I'm running such a small box and inverted sub to boot. I'm betting if I go ported in a large box I'll be happier.

I have my Rl-p 15 d4 in a 2.75cft, tuned to 30hz, getting ~1000 watts. It has penty of output for me. I listem to rap and hip hop and the lows are sickening. I also have 2 JL 12w6v2, sealed to JL specs. And while its not a fair comparison, the rlp-p is alot louder with just a slight drop in SQ.

What size is your sealed box? U are running inverted

Have the Rl-p15 dont remember the coil config but its running at 2 ohms off my ed 9.1 so 800rms give or take. I first had it installed in a 2.3cu.ft sealed enclosure and the lows were insane sq was nice but not the best. Recently i built a 2.0 cu.ft box and the rl-p seems to like it a bit more. Punchier than the 2.3 box but still hits lows great but plays the higher frequencies ie. 60hz-80hz louder. I have alot of extra mdf laying aournd so i think im going to build a 2.5cu.ft ported to 28hz box to see how it sounds. By the way this is in a sedan with fully deadened trunk.
