The factory door speakers were 6x9, so I had to use these, Amazon.com: Metra 82-6901 5-1/4-Inch or 6-1/2-Inch Speaker to 6 x 9-Inch Mounting Hole Adapters: Car Electronics, to install the components. I mounted both the tweeters and the mids on these adapters, like the attached image. Could I just apply the weatherstripping around the edge of the adapter plate, or would I have to apply it around both the mid speaker and the tweeter?
