So, too start off this all went in a '95 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 in which I installed the Kinetik HC 2000 battery up front, 170 amp@2000rpms High Output alternator, and did the BIG 3 . My questions is that should I be seeing higher voltage ?. At idle it sits at 13.8 , Rev it up too around 2500rpm's and it goes up to right around 14.0 . When the truck is off the batt sits at around 13.2. Why do I feel like these #'s just dont match up right with my upgrades ?. Seem normal or what ? Bad Battery or alt ? Any Input would be Great . Thanks guys ..

your jeeps getting better voltage than my civic. i have a 180amp ho alt, a 2400kin and i just bought a new battery for my engine bay not even 3 hours ago. voltage at a stop light with music at low with head lights on my shit reads 11.9v

it'll jump up to 13.8-13.9 when i'm driving or reving the engine, but i get bullshit idle.

stupid honda ECUs

Hmm , good to know . Yea I just figured Id see a bit higher voltage . My RSX puts up a 14.1 and thats with a smaller batt and smaller H.O alt .

that sucks. I feel like this happens a lot. People upgrade all their shit and get worse voltage. Im sitting at 14.1 with a stock ALT and hella scared to upgrade.

Same here I got a stock alt a kinetik hc1400 in the front and a hc2400 in the rear. No music playing I idle at 14.1. With music playing about half way up and a good amount of bass I am at about 13.25 volts. Full tilt I drop to about 11.85

With the truck off it sits at 13.2 you said... that means the battery is fine. I agree the issue is either in the regulator, or the car's ECU. Don't panic, see if it even makes a difference before you start throwing more money at the 'problem'. I assume you dont compete where every few tenths of a volt or db makes a big difference.

ive got a couple of electrical upgrades on my 96 jeep //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif

Mine sits at 13.3 with the external regular set. If I go over 13.5 the GEN light comes on and the ECU gets pissy. But when I compete I can run it up to 17 volts for 30 seconds with no issue. Been doing it for two years now.

I appreciate all of the input guys .. Helped me out a bit .. I checked the voltage today and for some forseen miracle Im sitting at 14.2 at Idle lol ?? Maybe the batt took a charge .. As for competing , its a twice a year thing so its nothing serious .
