Installed 15" TC-3000 yesterday..=(

who ever the n00b is that said 20Hz for car audio should find the nearest bridge... 25Hz is the very lowest i would go for car audio... anything lower is not practical...

That box is tuned way too high. TC recommends 4.2 cubes tuned to 20Hz. You should also pull the sub and make sure it's wired right. Make sure the gain is set properly on the amp. I'm assuming it's a D2.

Lots of stuff could be causing the problem. That's why you just take the time to do it youself. You end up having to redo it half the time anyway. I would go in this order:

Check wiring

Check Gain and HU settings

If it still doesn't sound right, You need to build a different box that is tuned lower. I'd go with something like 4 cubes tuned to 22 Hz (Fs of the woofer) and set a 20 Hz or so subsonic filter. Or just call up Audiopulse (new face of TC Sounds) and see what they suggest if you decide you need to change the box.
Would you care to share with us what the Fs spec you talk of is all about, because tuning a box to the Fs when the Fs is that low is pretty pointless...

I have an Eclipse CD7000 as stated earlier in my post..

but when I try to go to the Sound settings instead of

check the subsonic filter
how? I have the CD7000 deck if that helps..

who built the box? sure it built right?
BJ Fisher built it.

The LPF may not be right either. I would set it around 60-70. I had mine set too low once on the Mag. It filtered way too much.
I have difficulty finding the LPF and HPF options on my deck. I'm prety sure its on the 3-way system..but I just can't seem to change the option from 4SP+SW to 3way

I'll get on a multimeter and try to see the load..

Thanks for the help guys

at the moment, just turn it all the way down and see if that help, needs to be set around 25hz for you setup if you can guess the dial

the low pass needs to be around 80hz or what ever sounds best to you, cd player shouldnt have a subsonic filter built in, most dont

depending on what your playing the sub might not move much, especially if its aorund tuning which u said was 32hz, thats going ot be around where the sub moves the least

I was merely suggesting based on what the TC site said. No need to get your panties in a bunch. Since TC suggested tuning down to 20 Hz on a box the size of the OP's, the 22 Hz I suggested (Fs value) wouldn't hurt it at all. And even though "25 Hz is the very lowest you would go for car audio" I highly doubt you could tell the difference between 22 and 25 Hz unless you were direclty comparing test tones. Certainly not on music. The guy wants lows. That is TC's suggested box for low-end extension. Besides, IB installs play flat to 20Hz all day. If the music warrants it, and you have the capability, why not try for it?

If you still have a problem with TC's own suggestions, you can go argue with them. Perhaps you can convince yourself that you know how to use the woofer better than the people that designed it.

Just what I saw on their site. People who run IB setups can go that low. HT was not mentioned at all on the webpage. Here's what it says for suggested enclosures.

What does passive mean? With a passive radiator in it?

I just finished tuning my amp..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

you can tell I'm very satisfied.

The guy who installed it / tuned my amp..ended up setting gains all the way down..subsonic filter ~40-50 hz. set the gains correctly..turned subsonic filter down to ~15-20 hz.

put on a couple songs and it EXPLODED. exploded meaning the sub just came alive. I'm extremely happy with this.

Thanks to all who helped me and contributed to my thread. Much appreciated!

I'll try to get some vids up..but while I was tuning my neighbors seemed a bit bothered:rolleyes:

What a clown installer no one needs to be certified these days? Sounds like he hired his cousin or something. Didnt they listen to it? I know when I do installs I make sure it is wangin before I let customer even hear it.

Im glad you are happy with it in the end.

vids!
