Instaling subs without amp

only do it if you can wire each channel to 1ohm or lower, otherwise the HU wont put any power out and it will backfire and kill the alt, It happened to my friend once, fried his alt and his dual deck he got from walmart and then they wouldnt take it back, he was pissed, so he was out a few hundread

but i repeat, only if you can wire the subs to 1ohm or lower and bridge the back 2 channels

Any amp will do the job. Look for the "RMS" rating of the amp and match it as close as you can the the total RMS rating of the sub. As for me, I look for RMS rating and the THD of the amp. When looking at the THD, the lower the percentage the quieter the amp. Example: my MTX 405 amp is running at .08% THD. Anything more then 1% THD is audible.

Check out "www.bcae1.com" I use this site a lot. It is a good reference.

Hope this helps

but wouldn't a 1-ohm load be dangerous for 2 subs? bc ive tried installing at 1 ohm on my karaokee system and practiclly blew a fuse.
that was a karaokee, just wire the subs to 1ohm and bridge it on the HU, it will work, anything higher like i said will make the HU backfire
