input level question?

Ok im from a land of just having a gain on my amp to adjust the output of an amp. What is this input level knob and how do I set it. I did read some where that the pre amp output needs to match the input level. How do I turn the gain up on an amp that just has input level ive also read that if my input lvl on amp is lower than the actual output of HU preamps it will clip. Does this mean that I can not set the input lvl higher than the actual output lvl of the pre amps??

You.re talking about the knob and wire that u run up to drivers area correct? if so just set ur amps gains properly and then when u crank the knob to its max u will match the output u have set ..it will not exceed the voltage u set the amps gains at

Is what ur talkin about a remote bass gain? its Not a remote knob, its a lil knob on the amp there isnt an actual gain on the amp its just this input lvl control and a frequency adjustment control knobs

And u need to set it to match the voltage of the preouts as always

That sux so basically im limited to whatever my preamp out puts are putting out voltage wise right ? I dont like all this new ****. Things use to be simpler than they are nowadays lol u f my preamps had more voltage would it make it louder?

Yes but no matter what voltage of the preouts u just match it on the amp..having higher voltage preouts doesnt make amp more powerful..just means u wont have to turn up the input as high
