I had a thread recently where i was wanting to know the differences between the standard perfect and the VQ. I got my VQ this week, and they are sooooo different! The motor structure on the VQ is huge, nearly as big as the TC9 motor on my ED flatcone. The sub's cone is magnesium matrix, and the voice coil is much larger on the vq(i am assuming it is a 3", vs the standard perfect's 2"). It is so clean, and it is very loud and powerful also. thanks for all who gave me good advice.
One question i have, is how much power can it take? it is rated at 400 rms, and i have heard that the standard perfects do not like to be overpowered, but this is a COMPLETELY different sub with a larger motor and VC. I have a lightning audio s1.600 coming to power it(600x1 at 2ohms), is this too much? Can i set the gains accordingly? Apparetly someone on here claims to have put 500-600 watts to the new reference series with no ill effects, and these vq's are much higher quality than the reference.
thanks!
