Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1D, is it worth it?

@ this point my plan is to get (3) 10's and run off about 1200watts. I have a 350 dollar budget for the 3 subs and i perfer SQ over SPL, i'm not trying to win any SPL comp. but i like a good boom. I was wondering if you guys have heard anything peticularly good or bad about the 10.1D's........

Why is that? the peak power on these is 1200 watts. I dont think infinity would overrate their subs so they would blow.
Peak power means nothing ...

Their RMS power rating is pretty much dead on ... send it any more than what it's rated for and you're asking for trouble.

From someone that has run 6 kappa perfects in the last 2 years..do not give them anything over RMS..preferably 25-50 watts under RMS..and they sound amazing. Perfectly clear..and decently loud..but don't expect amazing SPL. They are total SQ subs and designed to work in a small power range. I've had three blow, none of which were my fault (friends installations that overpowered them)

I'm kind of agreeing with Jdg on this one. Yes, I've blow 3 perfects.. all on different occasions. Yes, it was my fault. These things sound amazing, they really do. The sound quality from the perfects will put a smile on your face, just treat them like a newly born child.. it's worth it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It seem as though my 3 10's wether them be perfects or whatever will be given about 400 watts max to each......

I've been looking @ elemental disigns and i hear many good things about them. right now my budet only permits me to get the K10's btu i like how the 010 looks, Should i save the extra 50bucks persub or for that money would i be better off getting 3 JLaudio 10W3v2???

What does Jlaine always say ? You can have 2 of the following: Power handling, small box, and efficiency, but you can't have all 3.

In this case, the Perfect is an efficient, small box driver //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

1)small enclosure

2)low-end extention

3)efficiency

honestly, i think the perfect is a small box low end monster. calculate the infinity's true rating and you'll get 85db. not that efficient (lots of mass for the low end //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ) ratings matter much because its only rated at 1 specific frequency. infinity rated the perfect at 40hz IN-CAR with 2.73v. thats how they get the 96db rating. then again, what car and how big?

I have 2 ed10k's in a sealed box and I'm happy with them. For me they have a good blend of SPL and SQ. The O's were designed strictly for SQ and require a sealed box. If I had the money I would have bought the O's, but I didn't. Maybe 3 years down the line I'll get a set of O's.
