infinity kappa 10.5t wiring question

doesn't the coil get hot when the volume is raised with the polarity reversed?
The coil gets hot no matter what. That's the nature of running power through a wire/coil...it gets hot. Stick your hand next to a light bulb that's been on for a while......

But no, there are no damaging effects that come from reversing the polarity.

All it does is change when the speaker excurts outward and inward in relation to the signal. When wired "normal", the speaker will excurt outwards during the peaks and inward during the valleys of the signal....with the polarity reversed, the reverse occurs. The speaker will excurt inward with peaks and outward with valleys of the signal.

This, in turn, changes the relative phase of the speakers/system, which could in turn result in better sound quality.

if not, does one way sound better than the other?
It will, for your particular installation.

It is common practice to reverse the polarity of tweeter(s), midwoofer(s), and/or subwoofer(s) to better align the phasing of the drivers.

Unfortunately, there is no way to guess what will work best over the internet. Simply need to play with the polarity to see which way sounds best.

The only thing that happens when polarity is reversed is the signal is "out of phaze". There is no notable temp difference.

Infinity usualy had a small size difference in terminals to denote what was POS and NEG.....but sometimes didnt if the assembly process was remedial....ie "the employees couldnt mess up the assembly".

IMO, just hook them up, listen to them both ways and what ever sounds better...run with it.
