I just purchased a new Camaro with the basic radio and speaker system. I would like to know if replacing just the speakers would be much of an upgrade and about how much it would cost. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
You bought a new Camaro, the new 2010 model? Don't they come with pretty decent stock speakers even the non-premium ones? You might want to ask the dealer about it to avoid warranty issues.
Otherwise replace the speakers and the headunit altogether, older Camaros came with pretty horrible stock speakers.

Not really. Factory speakers are a great match for the low power of a head unit, but when you step up to aftermarket speakers, the sound will be lacking until you add external amplification. Of course, you could add an amplifier for the speakers, but you title states "inexpensive" and buying new speakers, an amplifier and wiring can add up in cost quickly.
Just curious, what is your complaint with the stock stereo?
My buddy just bought a 2SS RS and hated the stereo.......until I told him to listen to something other than XM. XM didn't sound good at all (no volume), everything else was fine. Granted his is the Boston system but could be a similar issue here.
upgrading the speakers would help but trust me bro a lil after that it wont be enough...then ur gonna want to amp the speakers and get a higher outpt HU and then its gonna lead to subs and.....well u will see soon:wave:
