well good sir,i ran a re sx 12 for awhile and even though it could handle more wattage and flex shi t,it had less bl than my d6.my d6 has a 24 bl and even though its a 600w rms sub,to my ear,the d6 hits harder and cleaner.i believe the sx had a bl of 20.and off the same amp in the same box.so bl is everything to me with a in the 30's FS

If you're talking FS from specs of subs those are not very relative in most cases.

i dont strictly listen to rap,so a higher bl imo does well on both rock and rap as long as the FS isnt through the roof.btl has a bl in the 20's and so does the bl.the only sub i have seen on paper that has a higher bl than my d6,is the aq

Man, you have your specs all wrong. Bl alone does not mean a thing.

Fs doesnt really either..

If you're talking FS from specs of subs those are not very relative in most cases.

This^^^ The FS of my new style Death Penalty is 44. Suggested tuning is 32-34, but I plan on tuning to 30-32 for a flatter response. It's just way too peaky when tuned above 33hz. Box size also plays a role here. I've tried many different alignments when modeling this sub and never once took it's FS of 44 seriously. You will though, have to enter that spec for different formulas, but there are more specs that are factored in that will change your recommended tuning frequency.

^ lol,i dont.my main concern when i was looking at a sub with similar specs to my d6 is the specs of other subs that were close in specs to my d6 which is the aq.i have done my research and the aq is not a bottom heavy sub and neither is my d6.i just need a sub that will handle more wattage with more output without deviating too far from the sound in my box that the d6 has.the aq seems to be the only one to fit the bill in the wattage range i want to run.

Specs are very interesting when you get to understand what they are and how they are derived. In many cases you will find they are not as accurate as you may think or want them to be. In even more cases you would start looking at different things to base your choice on....

Enclosures and installs make a giant difference so reviews are not all that great to go by. Not to mention that all reviews are subjective.

hahah Don't grab a DP on my behalf. I was just explaining how T/S parameters can be misleading. BTW before I bought my sub, I was strongly considering the HD312. It was in my top 3 of the DP,Xcon, and HD312. I don't think you will be disappointed with that sub. Every AQ product I've ever owned I've loved.

i have read where people have owned fi q and dc level 4.they say it lacks on the upper bass notes and both of those subs have a lower bl.i have allso read that the fi bl punches like 10's and it has a bl in the 20's.reading in between the lines tells me that a higher bl is what im after on at least a 1000w rms rated sub.if i was strictly into the lows,then i would choose something else other than the aq.i want something that does well on both rock and rap.and yes i know the box comes into the mix.so i allso need a sub that works well in no less than 2cubes after displacement that will do punch hard on rock as well

As I said, what each person hears is not exactly what another person hears. How each of us interpret something is not the same as another. What I think is loud, is more then likely outrageous to most but to others it may be quite.... My thought on sound and reproduction is not the same as yours. As such what I think of any type of sound anything makes becomes worthless to everyone else.

Not to mention the already mentioned enclosure/install factor.
