The best is Samsung and Sony but they are expensive. Toshiba, LG, Sharp, and Panasonic are just under those.

Anything Samsung series 6 and above, plasma, lcd, or led.. Have 2, buying a Plasma nest season ( 2011 model )

For 1300 look on amazon, and some of the outlet retailers, ( onecall, b&h etc ) you could get a series 6 46" plasma or lcd
