would it be possible to run car audio equipment for a home system? if this is just stupid tell me so, but i would think just portable devices have ac adapters, you could make a massive one for a sub. im asking because home audio seems to be far more expensive for way less product, which doesnt make sence to me. i would love to buy some low end car subs and run 500w for like 300bucks with an amp, where as for home audio it would be like 500 bucks.

There are a few different company's subs that can double as HT speakers. Soundsplinters can be used in home as well as some TC subs. You can really put whatever sub you feel like in home if you have enough space and power.

And plate amps are plenty cheap these days. I run 2 15" RL-P's for subs in my HT off an 800watt amp and they are crazy loud & low.

Plenty of choices on subs to use and you can build something for far less $$$ than commercial and get much greater output/results.

Hit up AVS & HTGuide and check out the DIY sections for plenty of solid designs for most of the popular subs out right now.

If you're talking about car amps in home, it's all very easy as long as you buy what you need for what you want to accomplish.

If you want to run car amps in home, power supplies become pretty expensive if you want to run high power. I run a 100rms amp off of a computer power supply and I have run up to 300rms off of the same supply. Anything more and it won't give it the current the amp wants.

My home system is a profile 100wrms amp with an IDQ in 1.5@30hz. It works very well for music and pretty decent on movies. It's far louder than I need, even off of the little power I have. I was running a car audio component set for my mids and highs and everything sounded very nice.
