If they dont do rated, its still not much off, and IMO still one of the better amps for the money. Never had a problem out of mine.

According to Chris @ db-r, it is a solid 2kw+ amp @ 1 ohm, and I have found it to do rated or very close to rated @ 2ohms (1700w) and @ 4 ohms (850w). In this respect it sounds like in terms of output we could compare it to a beefed up kicker zx1500.1 or something? One that is also perfectly 1 ohm stable? for what like 350 shipped brand new with warranty? Sounds like a **** good deal to me

Some people have also claimed to have found that they have gotten full rated power @ 1 ohm or close to rated, as I believe OP did, so who knows...with good voltage and enough battery power behind it, it may be possible to get a solid 2.5kw out of it

Some people have complained in terms of reliability, but that is debateable...I've run mine on a single batt and weak alt for months and I beat the hell out of it, dropping to 11's in voltage sometimes, and it usually doesn't even get hot...I have absolutely no complaints about mine, in fact, I bought a second one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Wow, we have had so many threads about hifonics and theres still so much confusion about them.

• When people say old Hifonics was awesome gear they are talking about 25-15 years ago when they were made by Zed.
  
• It is alledged that the 07/08 brutus models are stronger than the 05/06 models.
  
• A guy representing Maxxsonics on the Team Maxxsonics forum admitted to them making small changes in the 08 models
  
• A few people on this forum have tested their amps and showed real numbers backing up the claims that they can do rated
  
• Chris from Db-r even said that the brutus amps were good budget amps. He said that the amps are capable of producing full power, but may be slightly clipped. He advised to get the next model up.
  
• You can sometimes get a BXI2008D for 255 plus shipping(several sites offer free shipping) and I've seen the 2608D for in the 300's
  
• I have mine mounted horizontally on a sidewall in my trunk and no problems at all, from vibration or overheating. In fact my amps stays cold to the touch at all times.
  
• They are good budget amps.

Fuse for the power you intend to draw from it (that it can handle, of course...) I wouldn't go over 250 amps

Hifonics are great for the money, just stay away from their Titan series they are garage but just about all their other stuff is ok.
