i keep on running into the same problem with installing systems in my truck, with the widows up there is no actual bass, just stuff rattling and mechanical sounds from the subs. I have a single cab 99 ram, and with the windows down the system wangs (good enough for me), but in the winter when its cooler (not cold ever, i live in texas) and i have to keep the windows up, the bass i get is horrid. Some people have told me the bass doesnt have enough space to complete its wave legnth cycle or something like that, and if that is the problem, how can i fix it? i have 2 12w3s in a 5 cu ft box ported box i had built to JLs specs. how can i fix this problem, would a sealed box allow the bass to cycle faster? honestly the difference from windows down to windows up is night and day. please help me out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

there's enough room behind the seat of a standard cab ram...
I put 3 15's sealed back there... lol

Yeah, i guess since it is a fullsize there should be quite a bit more room behind there than my truck. Also, it doesn't hurt if your short, which i'm not, so i need all the legroom i can get. I even had to give up a little to fit my box in there.

well its hard to take it, but i guess if loyd says its not possible, it **** well isnt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. so dynomating the whole thing wouldnt do any good, or i was thinking if going to 1 10w7 to give it alot of space hoping that would help, theres gotta be some way dammit, lol. i know with some help and ideas i can do it (probably not bc loyd couldnt, but im not giving up yet), ANY ideas??

yea the box fits easily, and i can still flip the center consol up and down without if toutching the box. im 17 and about 5' 11 so the seats not ALL the way back, but it can go back..........

Yeah, i know how you feel. My stuff sounds good when everything is closed, but if you open a window or door it just hits you like a pile of bricks. The difference is night and day. I dampened my entire truck besides the floor and it did help, but the same problem of a quieter stereo with the doors closed still exists. You just gotta deal with it i guess. One trick i do is to just open the window an inch or so, that actually gave me good results and really increased the output. Try that and see what happens.

hey lowrydr what are you saying, get off my thread buddy.

yea i'd be fine it it sounded good windows up but now anytime i want my system to sound good u have to drive around with wind in your face or freeze your balls off. yea putting the windows down an inch or so helps, but best results are all the way down. when i had it metered with the windows down it was almost 14db higher than with the windows up, but im not even looking to get that loud of bass with the windows up, i just want BASS coming from my subs, not mechanical sounds that actually have a negative effect on the wound of the music.

maybe i should put a brick on the gas and drive it over a cliff or something.
