Well, i had the lucky opportunity to test out a prototype for a new company from called Imperium Audio Designs. G6Ryder is the owner of the company and he was kind enough to let me test his proto type 15. I have a Dodge single cab, so there isn't much room, but i did manage to squeeze it behind the seats, with plenty of leg room to spare.
Equipment list:
Sub: Imperium Audio Designs 15" proto
Amp: Planet Audio BB2400.1
Box: 3.5 cubes with 47 sq in of port tuned to 37 hz
First impressions: As soon as i built the box and put it in the truck, i headed down the road to test. Prior to this the sub had about an hour free air time to get the suspension loosened up a little. No overheating, no smelly coil, nothing. Once i had found a good spot, i opened up the drivers door and let it rip. The amp at the time was sending about 1500-1700 watts to the sub at max volume, so it was giving it a workout. First impression of the sub; DAAAMMMNNNN! I've had a large variety of subs in my truck, but none have been as precise and accurate on every bass note, yet deliver it with authority. A real pounding in the chest. I played around with a few songs before i had to head back, but not before i burped a few times and got a rough estimate of 144-145 on a brand new sub with little play time.
Very impressed with this sub, and will be going to the OKC Usaci show this sunday if you want to come out and hear it. Can't wait for these to come into production so other people can get their hands on one. More testing is to come, but for now here's some pictures. I'll be finishing off the box and amp rack in a light grey flec stone.
