Imperium Audio Designs 15" proto build

Well, i had the lucky opportunity to test out a prototype for a new company from called Imperium Audio Designs. G6Ryder is the owner of the company and he was kind enough to let me test his proto type 15. I have a Dodge single cab, so there isn't much room, but i did manage to squeeze it behind the seats, with plenty of leg room to spare.

Equipment list:

Sub: Imperium Audio Designs 15" proto

Amp: Planet Audio BB2400.1

Box: 3.5 cubes with 47 sq in of port tuned to 37 hz

First impressions: As soon as i built the box and put it in the truck, i headed down the road to test. Prior to this the sub had about an hour free air time to get the suspension loosened up a little. No overheating, no smelly coil, nothing. Once i had found a good spot, i opened up the drivers door and let it rip. The amp at the time was sending about 1500-1700 watts to the sub at max volume, so it was giving it a workout. First impression of the sub; DAAAMMMNNNN! I've had a large variety of subs in my truck, but none have been as precise and accurate on every bass note, yet deliver it with authority. A real pounding in the chest. I played around with a few songs before i had to head back, but not before i burped a few times and got a rough estimate of 144-145 on a brand new sub with little play time.

Very impressed with this sub, and will be going to the OKC Usaci show this sunday if you want to come out and hear it. Can't wait for these to come into production so other people can get their hands on one. More testing is to come, but for now here's some pictures. I'll be finishing off the box and amp rack in a light grey flec stone.

Awesome! can't wait to give out some demos. And when i take it all out friday to finish painting i'll get some motor shots. The bottom plate reminds me of a small scale RD HeavyWeight. It's a PAP built sub, and it's a beast.

1 thing i love about this build is it shows that you can put a 15 behind the seat in a proper enclosure without sacrificing a lot of leg room. There's still a good 4-6" between my knees and the dash, and my seat is 1 notch farther forward than the passenger seat.

Thanks man. Kind of wanted the center seat back in the truck, but since it's not my daily driver anymore, i said screw it and built an amp rack. Always wanted to do a rack like this with plexi showing the amp guts.

And i will be getting videos friday or saturday. Finishing painting and getting things organized tomorrow and friday. With very little play time, this thing destroys my DD 1510's (last setup that did a 144 at 41hz and a 142 at 24hz).

Well, didn't get a video today but i might tomorrow if i have time before the sun goes down. However, i did finish up the amp rack and just need to mount the top and the system will be done. I also painted the box a few minutes ago, but it's too dark to take pictures.

But.... Here's some pictures of the finished amp rack. Tell me what y'all think..

i am not fond of that design. it will build up heat. but other than that its smexy

The front and back are wide open on the amp rack. Will be putting a fan into the front if needed, but the amp has stayed cool so far after some playing around with it today.

You'd need a fully stocked toolbox to steal this amp. Lol.

Yep. Did a 142 at 24 hz and a 144 at 41 hz. Behind the seat box, subs on drivers sub port firing toward the passenger side. 2.4 cubes tuned to 38 hz. Was a beast of a setup.
