impendence rise?

hey everyone

with factoring in impendence rise can i run my 4 ohm amp to power a single dual 4 ohm type S which will pull 2 ohms.

oh ya the amp is not 2 ohm stable and everyone i asked called me a moron and said dont do it

should i run my poor lil parts express 240 watts rms @ 4 ohms into the danger zone of 2 ohms?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

SPKRMAN thinks i should

no danger zone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Personally, I've run @ half the rated impedence without any issues (off the top of my head):

orion 2500d

kicker dx700

lanzar d3000m

kicker zx2500

kicker impulse 65w x 2

next brand something or other 100 x 2

pioneer head unit(s)

kenwood head unit(s)

JVC shelf system (my garage setup, runs at 4 ohm)

technics reciever (oh teh pwnage, i ran this thing at all sort of crazy loads, including below 1 ohm)

pyramid rack amp 2000w max

profile ca800

jbl bp80.4, or whatever that model was

fosgate punch 700s

BASH plate amp, dont remember model

And just about any other amp I have ever owned.

If nothing else... you can just bring it to the power point it would have been at otherwise without any issues, if that makes you feel better. Although you can probably crank it up anyway.

Assuming you purchased the amplifier brand new from PE....keep in mind that the simple act of running the amplifier below rated impedance will void the warranty should anything burn up during your warranty period. Do you have to tell them? No. But manufacturer's aren't stupid, they are pretty decent at deductive reasoning and arriving at conclusions of what caused certain failures in amplifiers...especially the amps they've designed, tested and likely driven to failure on purpose.

Send it back. Make him send you a dual 2 or get your money back.

Keep in mind, I do like Mark //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But for your own personal safety.....I wouldn't do it.

And just as an FYI....I've driven amps below rated impedance aswell. Most of them didn't like it too well.

Lanzar amp bridged into a 2ohm load, protection after 10 seconds of play. Eclipse 34230 that an acquaintance was running into a 4ohm bridged load....fried within a week. Two examples off the top of my head.

thanks a lot squeak thats what i have been saying all day to him on aol but he just doesn't wanna budge...its just not my fault he sent me the wrong sub why should i suffer from his mistakes?

Squeak ftw spkrman's excuses ftl

I doubt there will be any problems here...

Any company you ask will tell you not to run below rated impedence... but both you and I know they test on a resistive load, and a 2 ohm woof will probably rise past 4 ohm.

Any half decent amp will run half its rated impedence.

You're not in the wrong at all.

Mark is, in this particular instance.

Mark, no offense...but that's simply a load of shit.

thanks agian now i got some ammo for talking to mark

send me da dual 2 man this is bullshit im not paying for your fvck ups yes its a ***** but thats shipping for you and its NOT MY PROB ITS YOURS

you send me da wrong sub man i paid for it fully whats the prob here?

how is that no offense?

I repeat, any half decent amp will run at half its rated impedence - a 2 ohm DCR woofer will probably rise past 4 ohm, a 4 ohm amp is tested on a resistive load.... now tell me why thats not true?

Perhaps the god knows how many amps Ive run below rated impedence were flukes? All my higih quality stuff, like my profile ca800, which ran at 2 ohm bridged for the entire time i had it, 6-8 months.

1: The setup will work fine as long as you set everything up properly.

2: your in canada... paying for return shipping on that woofer and paying to ship the dual 2 out + the original shipping and I've just paid you 35 to take a type S off my hands

Just half its rated impedance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
generall yea... but if you have enough rise, you can theoretically wire down to whatever //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
