My friend recently purchased two 15" Comp VRs, and naturally he was anxious to see what it sounded like. So I wire ONE woofer to 2 ohms and let it rip. The car was off and the amp goes into protection.

Now here is my question, I usually run my 12xxx @ 1 ohm with my car off, and I can take the volume way past the protection point of the CVR @ 2 ohm. Does the amp draw more current/amperage @ 2 ohms then @ 1 ohm? Thanks in advance gentlemen.

 
sounds like bad wiring, because you didnt touch any other wiring on the amp other than the speakers itself?
Ground, B+, and Remote are very securely fastened, and I had the DVC wired [Positive to Positive then to Positive on amplifier] and the same for negitive (and that is on a DVC 4 ohm coil configuration). Now in between the speaker itself and the amplifier, I did use two different types of wire that I just twisted together since it was a ghetto rig just for testing purposes. I'm pretty sure that didn't contribute to forcing the amplifier into protection.

I do still have stock electrical (yea... I know.. I have my reasons) and when I turned the car on, it didn't have any problems. My best guess is there was a voltage drop, and the amplifier went into protect to prevent the power supply from burning out.

 
okay just use those current speaker wires and hook them up to the xxx12, that way if something is wrong you could say its either the speaker wire or the amp(which i would doubt)

just play around and eventually you will find something... your speaker wires might be touching ground or something, keep us posted

Is it possible the problem occured @ the twisted wire area? They wern't touching or anything...
