Image Dynamics ID10d2s or Sundown Sd-2 8s

I've been researching and shopping around for subs with 5.625" mounting depths or less and I can't seem to make up my mind. I have the enclosure picked out and I think I have settled on the amp...Just can't decide on the subs. Definitely going for SQ...dual 10s (or really nice 8s) wired for a 2ohm load, SubThump sealed downfire enclosure, .5ft^3 per sub, Hifonics Brutus 1400w amp (~900w rms @ 2ohms). One thing that really limits me on selection is a 6" magnet diameter or less. I have heard that the box can be trimmed to fit a 6.25" magnet but not much more than that.

Noted subs:

The 2 in the title (ID10 & SD-2 8)

MTX FPR-10 (SubThump's request)

Alpine Type-S 10

JL Audio 10W1

Skar Audio VD 10

I'm not dead-set on that HF amp...it's just a pretty good amp at a good price ($164). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm not trying to start a "pissing match" either...I know Sundown, Skar and JL are higher quality than MTX. I'm just trying to get all my options out there and to steer away from any that will disappoint me.

I've owned JLs before and I know they're a good SQ brand and I've heard good things about ID.
Id's are clean and tight. Great value overall IMHO.

Not a huge fan of the ID max's they can't take rated power :/

Gotcha. I have seen 3 different RMS ratings for the ID10s (v.3). 200, 250 and 400. Which one is correct??

LMAO wow... I'm going to go with 250; that sounds about right and it's SQ so you don't need to push em.

It doesn't take a lot of power to get them thumppin

In that case, my JL 500/1 will do fine. No need to buy another amp for those subs.

The ID's sounds very good and do well in small boxes like the one you are going to use. They have a large amount of xmax and can reach it with very low wattage which is a good thing.

Sundown recommended SA series when I mentioned JL and ID to them. After having owned Image Dynamics IDMAX 12s I can tell you Image Dynamics is fantastic.

I am in process of replacing my JL 12w3 that failed(surround disintegrated!!!!JL cannot and will not fix!!!!!) with an ID12.

The SAs nor the Type Rs will fit in the box I'm buying unless I buy the Type-R shallows and I'm not spending that kind of money for a shallow mount sub.

Absolutely. I have an IDMAX 12 in a 1.65 cubic sealed box on 900 watts and it sounds great. You won’t be disappointed. Pull the trigger.

I may get a pair of his 6" woofers for the back. It's an extended cab pickup so the enclosure won't be as bad as a door with holes in it. Highs...
