Image dynamics best for balance of spl/sq 10s or 12s?

I currently have 2 Polk Audio MM1040 10" subs ran by an AQ 1200D. before those i had 2 RF punch 2 12"s.

the difference in sound quality (metal music) its crazy. i hear parts of songs i always wondered, why is there no bass there with the 12s.

i ran with those polk 10s because of space problems, but im getting a new car and i will have plenty of room to do what i like.

so my question is, will say some idq 12" subs have the sound quality that 10s have, where it picks up more frequencies i guess is what it is doing. if not, what 10s would u suggest? i wont spend more than $150 on 1 sub.

Will AQ's SDC2.510 be an upgrade over the polks? will it be a big enough upgrade to sell my polks (losing money) and buy two SDC2.510?

i would like to keep what i get ran by the AQ 1200D if possible. I want sound quality over spl, but i feel the polks dont get very loud, which may just be what i will get with a SQ 10" sub, no matter what brand. The 10s that bang might **** for SQ, thats why im here asking.

thanks

IDQ has some great SQ. I had a set of V.2s an liked em a lot. Hit all the notes an sounded great. The V.3s are suppose to have the same sq but get a lil louder than the previous model. IMO it would be a step up from the Polks, but ive never heard the polks. An the SDC2's are great subs will get louder than the IDQs but i doubt they have better SQ

well im not sure the difference between great sq and average sq. i just know the 10s that i have now hit more notes than the 12s.

since the IDQs are made for SQ will their 12s hit most notes 10s hit?

i guess the question is what would get louder 2 IDQ 10s or 2 AQ SDC2 10s?

perhaps there is more options that i dont know of

are you wanting louder or a more "musical" sub? you said that your noticing notes now that you didn't before and wanted that but then you ask which is louder.

the IDQ12v3 in a one cube sealed box is a very very musical speaker. and it gets plenty loud. the 10s are also very good. if your wanting it to get louder though more cone area rules so i'd go with 2 12s and feeding them 1200 watts if i remember correctly is wat your amp does at 1 ohm the Qs will love it i feed my subs a Q1200.1 .

yes i mean musical assuming u mean i want it to sound good with music not just bass. i listen to heavy metal music so i like how 10s keep up with the double bass, where 12s seemed to like skip them.

i got the polks because someone said they were SQ yet they still hit good. they do hit solid, but i was hoping i could retain the musical subs but gain more bass. perhaps i cant within my budget, perhaps i need a 3rd sub.

the polks are rated at 350 rms i figure the AQ 10s rated at 600 rms would give that extra bass but i have no idea if they would be musical.

ur running 12s and they play most notes, beats? im fine with ID just dont really want to get 12s and be like man why isnt it hitting at that point in the song

thx for ur help so far, probably will go ID no matter what

Image dynamics is top of the line period. I'm running 4 8's on a 1,000 watts now. Best subs I have ever heard. They are amazing subs. The only other line of subs I would own is jl audio and nothing below w3's. I have had every brand of subs there are through the years. Nothing comes close to image dynamics for sound quality. Polk sounds like shit compared to them.

I didnt necessarily mean that 12s cant do the quick beats, i was simply stating from my experience thats what has been the case. If i thought i knew everything i would not be here asking lmao...

But i can only assume an spl 12 would not be able to handle the quick beats, which removes certain sub brands, and models. maybe im wrong, but thats just what i would guess.

each sub is different in their own ways. keep in mind ID mainly focus's on SQ even their spl sub the ID Max is focused on sq just louder //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Its for us bassheads ready for an sq setup but at the same time not ready to give up a lot of bass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
