My roommate wants to get 2 of these:

for $180 I told him there are better subs out there for around the price range and that if he gets the right 12 he would only need one if he has the right amp and box

He wants to spend around 300 TOTAL for amp and subs which I know he more than likely cant do

Do you guys have any suggestions as far as better subs than these not going over 200 bucks

Get a single Mach 5 MAW 15. Shouldn't be hard to find an affordable amp that puts out 500w at 2 ohms.

The MJ-18 and IXL-18.4 wouldn't be bad choices either if he has the room and can find an affordable amp to push them. Best bet would be to get a higher-powered 2-channel and bridge it.

This Profile would be good for a budget setup, paired with the IXL-18.4. I've heard some good things about that line. Nothing great, but can't beat it for the price.
