People come here to get advise. All people do here is tell them the cheap way to make noise. "You can get better for your money". If they want SQ, can you really get better for your money? Considering the W6 can get pretty loud, enough for most on 600 watts.

In no way do I completely agree with JL's pricing, BUT they have an excellent facility here in the USA that builds their upper end drivers employing American's to build. They do extensive amount of engineering that most others don't have the capability to do or have the staff able to do it. They have pioneered a some things and have been a big part in shaping the way the industry has progressed. Meaning, they have a lot to back up their pricing as they are spending a lot to stay on top. Not like other mega brands that have gone to full on cheapest build costs possible to ever rising pricing all while riding on the name. JL does not fit the internet ideal, because on the internet CHEAPEST initial price will always rule, (regardless of background, quality, value or performance) especially here in the US. JL does fit the dealer ideal well, great product, great name and good margin.

JL makes good stuff, but other companies make better products at a better price. I could get a w6 for $400, or I could buy an SSA Xcon for $400. The Xcon will still sound great but will handle 3x the power.

I'm not really a fan of JL, and it pisses me off because a lot of people assume I'm running jl audio just cause my skar 10s get loud.

Well put. And from a very good perspective on the subject. And kudos for not being biased.

I think because we are all on the forums, there are extremes to one side or the other. Be it SPL or SQ. Hardly anyone on here just wants to throw something in and be done with it. They want a pounder to demo or they compete on one side or the other. JL is for the "set it and forget it" crowd that wants to hand their keys to a shop and drive out with a nice system. Mostly.

A lot of people claim they want SQL, but what that really means is they want a loud daily. Lol. Not a burp or numbers whore system. If they really did want what I consider SQL, the W6 might be a good fit. But I personally feel like there are better subs for what people (including me) actually want.
