Im Stumped

I have a good system in my 94 Chevy Silverado stepside but want to add more bass,So i went and scored me a 12 inch power acoustik from wal mart to add to my system. i wired sub up to make it @ ohms and followed detailed instructions on how to but i got no sound out of it and looked back it was smoking . So i need to know exactly went wrong . I have it connected to a razr 2500 D for inquiring minds

So the subwoofer itself was smoking but not putting out any sound?

Or was it the amplifier smoking?

If it is the sub smoking but not making sound, you may have accidentally wired the coils out of phase, I've admittedly done this once in the past.

I can't say I have ever wired my subs out of phase, but I have seen it a couple times. However, in the OP's case, I believe he did exactly that.

Walmart...you most likely bought a blown sub that was returned.
I had to dance around to get a brand new Jensen DXA92RB. Took 5 stores and looking at 13 amps before I found one that wasn't a return and put back on the shelf.
