im stuck between 2 diff beasts..

my original question was comparing the 2. i will pay more for the DR if its a better sub. even though it costs more, 2 will take a 2500.1 just as well as 2 SXs. the question is, which of the 2 will be the better sub for me? im planning on using about 4 cubes or so so i dont have to build the box in my trunk.. which will be better for SPL and which for SQ?

Well, since the DR isn't in wide use, no one can really tell you how it's going to perform. You can ask anyone you see with one, and you can ask the manufacturer.

For the SX you can look them up in the Your dB Numbers thread, as they have been used quite often and put out solid numbers. You can also see from that thread what kind of power they can take and need to do those numbers.

As far as SQ, that's really relative. If the only sub you have to compare them with is your listening experience in your signature (L7), then either sub will probably be around the same as far as SQ. I can't really comment on SQ, but I do know that no one will say the SX is an SQ-oriented sub.

The MSRP for the DP 12 is $599.

I was quoted $459.

That is 76.6% of the MSRP.

The MSRP for the DR 12 is $429

Therefore, using the percentage from the DP quote, I estimate an approximate price quote on the DR 12 to be $329.

The SX 12 on eBay goes for $235.

I think that sums up my point.

ive heard a lot more than the L7. i know mine isnt an SQ based sub and its alright because im looking more for SPL than SQ. i dont want it to be sloppy or anything but i like it loud and low.. the SXs are supposedly more SQ oriented but i hear that they get loud as pheck too. i think ive only seen like 2 guys on here with DRs so idk. i think ill just wait till i get on summer break and see if more guys have anything to say about th DRs. i will be working more and getting a consistant paycheck too so i should be ready to go then.

Keep in mind all of these prices include shipping, so that $459 for a DP 12 your talking about includes about $45 bucks worth of shipping for a 60 pound driver.

When you compare that price to the price of other companies out there, I'm sure you'll see we come up more than competitive.

how can you compare an sx to a dp? would that make the Fi btl, dc audio lvl 5, and sundown audio nightshade overpriced too?

try to get warrantee on the ebay sx. it will be very dificult because they are not supposed to be selling on ebay.

also if you need a rebuild kit for a sub, it is much easier & quicker to get the ia rebuild than re. the company support is awesome at ia.
