im ready to buy

ive done alot of research on subs and im ready to buy 1 12" type-r..... i have a audiobahn A8000T amp which it claims produces 400 watts rms at 4 ohms and 800 watts rms at 2 ohms.... i want to try my amp out on 2 ohms to see how much power it pushes out....if it pushes out too much ill just run it at 4 ohms b/c it sounds pretty good now..... what sub should i get out of the SWR-1222D or the SWR-1242D...like i said ima try my amp at 2 ohms to see if i can handle how loud it is but at the same time i want a sub i can run at 4 ohms in case the amp at 2 ohms is too loud.....which sub would let me do that out of those model numbers?

Get the dual 4 ohm and run it at 2 ohm. If it's too loud just turn the gains down.

another thing is i dont want to burn my amp out if it gets too hot..... if it gets too hot i'd just run my amp on it at 4 ohms and maybe even throw my other amp on it for more power

That amp should have no problem running at 2 ohms, so get the dual 4 ohm Type-R and wire it in parallel to the amp.

IF the amp does start overheating here's a couple little tricks:

When installing it make sure to use little 1/4 inch-1/2 inch spacers to raise the amp a little bit. By doing this you can actually do a cleaner install, but the end result is that it allows just enough air to get underneath the amp for some good ventilation. You wouldn't believe how much of a difference this can make.

If it still overheats, install an amp fan.

You shouldn't have any problems though.

With the 1222 you would only be able to run 1 ohm or 4 ohms.

With the 1242 you would only be able to run 2 ohms or 8 ohms.

You want the 1242 because your amp is not 1 ohm stable.
