I think its greedy to expect Goob to run this site how other people see fit, when those other people dont have to pay the bills, do the work, answer to advertisers, etc etc.
Of course you are butt hurt, all your buddies were removed from mod status. Yes, lets play some lame game that the winner gets to choose whoever they want to ban. Yes, lets have the mods have a '*** of the month' quote in their sig. Yes, lets allow the mods to hand out their mod powers to who ever they see fit. That was a really competent management structure.

You aren't worth getting into the petty pissing contest you so clearly crave from me. The only thing I will say about this comment is, if you think Im a Goob lover, you simply having been paying attention.

As I see it if I was the Admin of a site that is bringing in as much as has been said in this thread, which I have no idea is accurate or not, I would at least make sure I had mods that I could trust in my absence and check on it once in a while. This site was abandoned long ago by the guy who claims the checks, and it would have continued to go downhill if the threat of losing that income was not there.

Now this reactionary policy of not even being able to post bass or classified or post a picture is going to speed up the demise of this site as people move to somewhere they can express themselves like they want.

Bringing in as much as has been said? By who? The only semi-educated person in this regard that has replied here is MoT, being a mod (and iirc, friend of Goob's). His statement was the income generated is more or less just keeping the forum going. Im assuming Goob is making some sort of profit off the site, or he wouldn't own it, as he seems to have no interest in car audio. But, making profit is not a crime, nor something that should be frowned upon. Again, Ive seen zero evidence Goob has been getting rich off this site.

With that said, Ive complained, vehemently, in the past that Goob was neglecting the site. But that's a pretty hollow complaint these days, as Goob has put a lot of effort into the changes we've seen the past year or so.

This is a 'reactionary' policy by Goob because, presumably, he didn't see this google mess coming ahead of time. IMO, he is damned if he did, damned if he didn't in that regard. If he had gotten more strict on the rules of no ******/racism/etc before this occurred, many of the same angry people the past few days would have complained bitterly about it back then. But he let things slide, some people pushed the envelope (lazyrider is a perfect example), and now he's damned for his after-the-fact reaction of trying to stop the bleeding.

Dont get me wrong, I dont agree with a lot of Goob's decisions, but I dont own the site, he does. I just think if we are going to lame blame, we need to be more careful to lay it at the right person's feet.

If you'll notice, I never laid all the blame at his feet all. I've said is that if it was me, and I was making money off of it I would have taken a more active interest in the site. Plenty of the good mods on the site left because they were frustrated with his lack of attention to the site. If he followed the site even in passing he would have been able to see which of his mods were effective and which were just abusing there powers or doing jack shit.

Re-reading that I suppose I am blaming him for not doing what I feel his job should have been and keeping his mods in check.

The way I see it is that the mods are supposed to be here to monitor and if necessary punish legitimate ToS violations, his job is simply to ensure they are being effective in that. I remember reading threads from mods that have stepped down or left asking for the ability to IP ban in certain cases. That way a repeat offender couldn't just keep coming back with multiple AE's and wreak havoc.

this. i will say over the last few months i have seen more activity out of goob and he has been listening to input at least from me. We have discussed on a regular basis things that need to change and ways to do this.
