im now convinced batcap 2000 can't handle..

see thats the strange thing. my voltage drops are sporadic. whenever im jamming, and the bass stops in a song, it jumps up to 13.5-14 volts.. like almost immediately. maybe your right though. wish i could find a good HO alt that would fit in this dodge neon..
your alt cant keep up, thats why the voltage jumps up so quick back to 13.5-14 without a heavy load on it.

talk to iamamp3pimp, he has a neon with a huge system and has probably dealt with charging issues like this, you probably have a 60amp alt. i know he has a large battery bank.

the batcap is doing its job, charging back up. but like said above, they dont have a large reserve capacity and are quick to discharge/charge therefore needing a powerful alternator to do the charging part. i love mine though, they've supported over 4kw for me before dropping to 12.2v full tilt with a h/o alt.

pulling current through wire in itself causes voltage drop....something most people seem to not understand...say all your wiring and connections etc has a total resistance of .01ohms...if you try to pull 200 amps through that, right off the bat you are going to have a 2v drop, even if you had an infinite power supply.

if your voltage immediately jumps back up after bass stops, it means your voltage drops are only because of resistance, not overdraw, or it could mean that you are overdrawing but you have a shit ton of charging supply, which you don't.

it is a 90 amp alt for the record.

I don't at all man. that is what I am saying. I play my music with the car on ALWAYS! I turned it up today without the car on, just for testing. It wasn't 30 seconds, my voltage dipped to 11 volts. both batteries rest at 12.7. I do have a stock battery up front but I have been told that replacing it probably won't stabilize my voltage that much. on a load test at autozone, it tested fine.
holding 11 volts with 30 seconds of full tilt with car off is normal or slightly better than normal

i would do all testing with car running

indeed sir and I have. The lowest I have seen it drop at full tilt with the car on at idle is about 11.8.

I dont really understand all the advice being given to this guy.

First of all, if you are playing music loud, with your car off, your voltage is going to drop considerably. Dropping to 11V on 30 seconds of loud music with the car off is very good IMO.

Second of all, some cars charge very little at idle. I know in my gf's car, voltage sits around 12.8 at idle, but depending on here speed, can be anywhere from 12.8-14.0. (The alternator is not faulty, that's just how the car is designed. It's a 2008 Yaris.) His alt probably charges very little at idle as well. If you are having voltage drops with the car running, and you have a decent battery and the big 3 done, just upgrade your alt and you should be set. Make sure to get one that does some decent power at idle if you are going to be jamming while idling.

I had a bad front stock battery, and it wasn't charging my 2400hc I replaced it last night and it fixed my dips now i don't dip lower then 12.4....Check all your grounds.I..im guessing you did a big 3...Use a dmm check ur connections maybe you have a bad ground...with my stock battery I was dipping into the 11.89 and the 11.5 It was bad...Now i'm doing good I picked up a kinteik 800hc on ebay for 110$
All lies. Dude you're so full of shit your eyes are brown. Either that or you have a whole car full of FIAL. I believe it's both. Stick to computers.

For daily if my batteries were in the low 11 volt range after 30 seconds I would be getting more or better batteries

man I have limited space up front. this is a dodge neon after all lol. I know the length of the current battery is 9.25". I could probably only fit something like a kintetik 1400 up front. I would like to find a batcap 2000 for a good price.. not really willing to drop 300 on one. I will take the dimensions again later on today.
