I'm hooked - does it end?

OK - I never had much more than a head unit and some aftermarket speaker. Got a new truck and decided I would take the next step - amps and a sub. **** - now all I want to listen to is bass banging music! Is there some instinctive attraction to the rumble and punch of a a good sub? I am already starting to think about more power and more subs... Is this an addiction? Should I seek professional help or just a better job to pay for more....

i know what you mean man. I'm 16, so I dont have a ton of money... but I spend around 1/5 of it on stereo.

I read somewhere that it releases a stimulant in your brain - giving a euphoric buzz thingie. Sounds addictive to me.

It will end. I will soon be parting with my 12XXX and switching to a 8w7. Just looking for a little somthing to add to the low end. I don't need a crazy driver anymore...

it really wont stop untill you get the perfect ideal system. the only problem is... there is no perfect system so you will keep trying to increase the quality of you system. i grew out of the bass addiction and now i just want the highest sound quality that i can get. just dont have the money to do it right now.

Its adicting, I got into car audio at around 13 or 14, when i bought some 10's and a headuint for my explorer, now im 18 at college, and outside of school and fraterity business all i can think about is car audio.

you guys talk like just cause you stopped going bigger louder and more powerful youre done with your audio obsessions... here seems to be the stages for most..

start to like bass cause other people have nicer systems

you might get some 6x9s or skip right to entry level bass (next step)

you go for somethin cheap and cool looking (most go with audiobahn and sony)

you crave bass... so you start to look for an upgrade (more power, bigger/better woofers)

you might start looking online and find some forums

you figure out that the bling might not be the best bet.. you probably upgrade to kicker or memphis or somethin mainstream but better

you find out about superwoofers and non-mainstream brands and want to experiment

you then start dumping tons into audio, bigger better louder

you find out what sound quality is and begin to kinda look for that.. but not until your substage is way too loud.

you like SQ more and more and then slowly dump thousands into SQ

you are then on a quest to make your car sound the best it can

NOTE.. therte are still steps after your substage is rediculously loud. this usually happens after youre done being a cocky teen. you guys who says it ends are lying cause youre still a forum member and i would bet money you guys are still looking to upgrade or find something out there that you might stumble upon that you have to have to sound better.

hah ok im done rambling... but im sure there are a couple of you out there who can follow these steps pretty well.. im sure a lot of you werent like that but hey

im in the 3rd to last stage....im starting to like the subs meld with my front stage. however i do love "change your heart rate" bass once in a while.

i never got to the "i want boom boom" stage.

i went from "ooh, stereos are cool, i have a crappy pair of 10's, some coaxials, and a broken HU"

to "ooh, im going to compete with a sound quality install - top notch active, horns, dedicated midbass, fiberglas and all that good stuff"

as far as your car stereo is concerned, as long as you have a car- yes, you will be addicted. /end story.
